Moroccan inspired interiors are all about vibrant colours, opulent finishing touches and a mixture of patterns and mosaics. What’s so wonderful about this trend is that it embraces colours and no way encourages one to be minimalistic or hold back on the embellishments!
Be creative with using different textiles
Moroccan inspired homes draw on a range of different influences. One key trend to be noted is the use of hand-woven, colourful blankets as bedcovers, rugs or even wall-hangings. There’s no hard and fast rules, so you can try things out and see what works. Blankets and bedspreads covered in mirror sequins can add a much needed touch of bling instantly!
Don’t be afraid to mix and match patterns and mosaics
Moroccan mosaics are known the world over for their incredible detail and beauty. If you take a look inside at how these mosaics and traditional patterns are used throughout a home, you can have one style of pattern for the wall tiles, another pattern for the floor rug and once again another mosaic design displayed in the adjoining entrance way. As long as you ‘team with the theme’ it’s incredibly difficult for you to make anything clash.
Lighting accents that are bold, beautiful and colourful
When it comes to lighting, people enjoy incorporating Moroccan inspired pendants, lamps and light fixtures. Generally, a number of glass lanterns or light fixtures are clustered together to add colour to the space. The lights in turn also pull the room together, and add a much needed finishing touch.
Don’t be scared to mix a variety of different coloured lights in any one room. Remember, this trend is all about creating a colourful feast for the eyes!
Metallic shades are always complimentary to Moroccan style spaces. To add a touch of gold to any room, the Tom Dixon Cell Short Pendant Light is an exceptional option.
As mentioned earlier, glass pendants in different shapes and colours are always a favourite option so something like this Jeremy Pyles glass minaret would look perfect!
While glass and metal textured lights work well, so too do fabric and organic-inspired pendant lights and lamps too (like the ones above). So keep this in mind when choosing your lighting accents.
Whether you incorporate a few key pieces or completely transform your home Marrakesh-style, it’s the perfect way to add warm tones and colour to any room in your home, just in time for summer!
